A corset is an older garment used by ladies all over the world to help support their breasts, re-shape their hips and torso, and even for medical reasons. Because of the many uses of the corset, they were used by men and women in the not too distance past. However, today they are usually only worn by women.

Corcets used to be used to give ladies a very specific look. That look was a bust in the breasts and the hips, with in-curves in the ribs and hips. The look is referred to as the "hour glass" look. When ladies became more accepting of their own bodies, they decided to ditch the corset and move to the bra. The bra gives the same breast support as a corset, without the other "advantages" of a corset.

In recent years, the corset is coming back among young laides, but only as a fashion statement. These new corsets don't shape the body as it used to. Instead they are used to draw attention to the rest of their outfits and is only a form of fashion.
